Holy Child Academy, Drexel Hill, PA has installed a permanent mosaic in the school commemorating its 80th anniversary. The mosaic comprises tiles with self portraits of every student, faculty, and staff member at the school during the 2007-2008 academic year.

Organized by art teacher Lyn Ann Mueller, the project was designed to illustrate the school’s motto, scholarship, joy, and values. “The goal was to create a permanent project so that students, faculty, and staff would be remembered as participants in the 80th anniversary celebrations,” said Mrs. Mueller. “I liked the concept of using self portraits – in ten, twenty, or thirty years a whole new group of students and administration will see our portraits and know we were here!”

Holy Child commemorated its 80th Anniversary with several events throughout the year including: a liturgy celebrated by Cardinal Justin Rigali in October; a birthday celebration complete with birthday cake in January; and an all school trip to Hershey Park in June.
