Alumnae Working at
Oak Knoll School
of the Holy Child
Summit, NJ
Those who work at Oak Knoll live out Holy Child philosophy in many ways, every day, and in actions and words. In fact, several Oak Knoll administrators, teachers, and staff members have been doing so for decades…ever since they experienced Holy Child education as Oak Knoll students! These alumnae can now be found teaching in our computer labs, math classrooms, and in our development and admissions offices. Who better to share their views on Holy Child education than those who experience if from several perspectives:
Joanne Ainsworth ’64, Lower School Principal and parent of graduates: “The years at Oak Knoll help develop conscience and character based on Christian and Cornelian values of dignity, respect, intellectual curiosity, social justice, and joy! Not a day goes by that I am not impressed by our students, teachers, parents, and the education the students are fortunate enough to receive.”
Mary Hoskins-Clark ’88, Upper School Librarian: “There was a strong sense of community that I think comes from being a Holy Child school, [and] I always feel comfortable speaking my mind.”
Beatrice Metzger Fagan ’85, Director of Annual Giving and current parent: “Spending a lot of time on campus, it seems to me that students today clearly understand that their education extends beyond the classroom. They are active citizens who give back and care for their community. They are accomplished artists and athletes, and they conduct themselves well.”
Camille Graziano Burke ’77, Upper School Computer Science and parent of a graduate: “What I appreciate most about a Holy Child education is that we were always encouraged to be ourselves and speak our minds. That has really helped me in my adult life, and it was a great asset to bring to college. I wasn’t afraid to speak to professors. I even went up to the board in a lecture hall to do an Organic Chem problem. After, my classmates came up to me to say, ‘How did you do that?’ I wasn’t intimidated at all.”
Suzanne Kimm Lewis ’69, Director of Admissions and parent of graduates, who appreciates our “ability to change and adjust” to an ever-changing world. In the midst of this evolution, “we haven’t lost our soul, our Holy Child traditions, or forgotten our mission [at Oak Knoll],” Suzy emphasizes, “and this is what will keep us going.”
